Signal Hill - Tucson Mountain Park Petrogliffs

Take a short trip west of Tucson to travel back in time.  Walk the paths, take in the views, see the remains of American Indian artistry right here in our own "back yard".

Here are a varietyof  ways to reach the the Petrogliffs and paths at Tucson Moutain Park:

Gates Pass to Kinney Road North.  Stay North on Golden Gate Road to Signal Hill Road on Left

Wind through the Tucson Mountains on a dirt road off Picture Rocks Road West off Ina

Take Picture Roacks Road to Sandario.  About 1.5 miles south of Manville Road, take a left on Golden Gate Road...

Or Come north on Sandario Road from Aho...

The Signal Hill Trail is located in the Saguaro Mountain Park West.  The path is pretty easy, I think most could manage it with a little resting now and then.  The entire route is only 1/2 mile, with benches along the way.

Keep a sharp eye when walking!

President Roosevelt established the Civilian Conservation Corps to help youth find jobs during the depression.  Some of the CCC projects were the construction of picnic sites, ramadas, trails, bathrooms, dams - several of which are in the Tucson Mountain District. 

Signal hill was completed in 1934.  Stop by for a picnic and a walk through history.

The Petroglyphs were left by the Hohokam Indian tribe.  

More advanced hikers can follow the nearby Cactus Wren Trail.
